Modern Texas Living: Facing Fear

I’ve yet to meet a person who isn’t either currently going through something difficult,  just got over something difficult, or will be facing something difficult in their future.

That’s just life.  It’s like I’ve heard my sister say a hundred times, “Everybody has something.”

And we all have to deal with it and heal from it.

I discovered a song a few months back that couldn’t describe this any better. Here are some of the words:

It’s called Tell Your Heart to Beat Again by Danny Gokey.  Take a listen. You might think it was written just for you.  That’s how I feel about it.

We can’t rush the healing process–because it IS a process–but we can still choose to take steps in the right direction when opportunities to do that present themselves.

I was given such an opportunity when one of the owners of Modern Texas Living, a new lifestyle magazine in the Waco, Texas area, asked me to write an article for the debut issue.

I feel very blessed to have gotten the chance to tell my story. To read it, go to Modern Texas Living Online. The article is on page 95

Many lifestyle magazines are more fluff than substance.  This one isn’t.  It has real stories from real people, people who have something…like we all do.

  1. Fantastic article! I was raised on fear and anxiety with a tiny dash of positiveness. Your post today is a much needed breath of fresh air. I happen to be visiting in Austin this week so I’m going to get a copy of this magazine to take back to Tennessee! Thanks for sharing.

    1. I’m so glad you got a chance to read it! Fear really is crippling. Enjoy the rest of your trip to Texas and hope you get to see some of the sites of Waco before you go back.

  2. I am so proud of you as you continue to move through your “something.” You are a strong, talented, and deserving person. With God’s grace you will make it all the way through. I love you a lot little sister!

  3. We women are a lot stronger than we think we are. It is good to have God in your life, he makes everything okay and he will fight your battles when you can’t. Crying helps and getting mad does too just go right ahead. You will be in my prayers. Have a blessed day.

  4. I came here via Stacey’s blog, Poofing the Pillows.

Your story in Modern Texas Living touched my heart. It was good to read that you have been into a closer relationship with Jesus. He is our strength when we are weak. May you continually feel His love, peace, strength and joy flowing through and surrounding you.

    1. Thank you so much for your comment. It was the best thing I have ever done and also the hardest. I thank God every day for giving me the strength to get out.
