I’m amazed at how a single purchase can make such a difference in a room, and it’s even better when you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg. I paid only $153 for this 8 x 11 foot rug from Overstock, and I couldn’t be more pleased with my purchase. It’s the Safavieh Cottage in navy/cream. In reality the cream is a lot closer to taupe.
There was nothing wrong with the sisal rug I had before. I liked the texture it added as well as its neutral color. When my walls were dark, it provided some contrast.
Once I went back to white paint, though, I realized I wanted something different. Something with some color and pattern. Something that fit my budget.
I’m a big believer in the saying “you get what you pay for.” Sometimes, though, you just need a dose of realism. I have three dogs who like to think they run the joint.
I have a two-year old grandson who is here a lot. I don’t have a big budget.
The new rug is polypropylene, not wool. It isn’t thick or cushy or by any means the best quality rug I’ve ever owned. I think it’s going to do the job for now, though. If I realize down the road that it isn’t holding up like it should, at least I’m not out a lot of money and won’t be sick to my stomach if I have to replace it.
Truth be told, I actually prefer bare floors in my house so most rooms have no rugs at all. It’s just a cleaner look and one less thing to deal with.
In my living room, however, I like having a rug and I really love this new one. I probably spent a whole fifteen minutes picking it out online, it arrived in four days, the price was great, and it’s decent quality for the money. That’s a win in my book.
